Getting frustrated with your dog? Is she treating your house like one big chew toy, or having a hard time mastering housetraining? Is she jumping up on you when you’d rather she didn’t? Great news – most canine behavior problems can be easily lessened or eliminated outright by some basic dog training. Just check some of these tips out!

There are many different approaches that can be used to crate train a new puppy. A yummy treat can help to entice a hesitant dog into the crate. They’ll know the bone is in there and will want to go inside and get it. When they go inside to get the bone, give them lots of positive reinforcement.

Give your puppy with lots of chewable toys, otherwise he might alleviate his teething pain on your nice furniture. Give it one of his toys instead. Teething pain can be soothed by a washcloth that has been soaked in water and frozen.

Use your time walking the dog as a time of bonding and positive reinforcement. Try bringing your treats along and playing games with them during the walk. Ask him to sit in the middle of your walk and reward him with a snack. Reinforce the love you have for your dog and they will respond in kind.

Your friends and family, in most cases, are not dog trainers. While those around you may have advice and opinions on how you should handle your dog’s training, it does not mean they are correct. This input may be well-meaning, however, you can ignore most of it if you have taken the time to do your homework.

When interacting with other dogs, expect a calm, sedate attitude from your pet before letting them go loose. By establishing a calm demeanor in your pet, you will cause a ripple effect through the other animals as well as teaching your dog that you control the environment. This will make it easier to withdraw your dog when it is time to go as well.

Your breeder should begin socialization with your puppy, but it is up to you to continue it. It is important for a puppy to get used to people and the environment around him, but he will need to be protected from becoming too overwhelmed or scared. Your job is to encourage your puppy’s confidence as he goes out into the world.

While dog training with a leash, make sure that you are keeping the collar snug, yet a little bit loose. When the collar is too tight, it can actually make the dog want to pull you. A little slack can go a long way when you are dog training with a leash.
